I am undertaking a market assessment of urological treatment activity across NHS Scotland. I would be grateful if you could advise whether the following information is available from existing published datasets or could be provided as aggregated, anonymised activity data.
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) procedures
For the latest available complete financial or calendar year, ideally with equivalent figures for the preceding two years:
Number of TURP procedures performed.
Number of HoLEP procedures performed.
Number of GreenLight laser procedures performed.
Number of UroLift procedures performed.
Number of Rezūm procedures performed.
Number of Aquablation procedures performed.
Number of other identifiable surgical or minimally invasive BPH procedures.
Where available, please provide the number of procedures by NHS health board and hospital of treatment, distinguishing inpatient, day-case and outpatient activity.
- Data definitions and availability
Please advise whether the available data distinguish unique patients from procedures or treatment courses, and whether any relevant treatment categories are incompletely recorded.
