Details from the request:

… the recent fire at Melville Recycling Centre, I request under FOISA legislation

  • the data from all air monitoring stations in the affected surrounding area daily, since the fire began on 11/12 May 2026 (from Cupar and any additional monitoring stations you are aware of)
  • A full list of all the toxins known, or expected to be being released into the air as a result of the fire
  • Details of the potential long and short term impacts of people breathing in those toxins
  • Details of the potential future impact on the wider environment - g. water quality, agriculture, plant life as the toxins are absorbed

If the answer to any of these questions is that you don’t hold the information

  1. can you please advise why Public Health Scotland is NOT monitoring and advising on this as part of the multi-agency response to the incident? And
  2. which agency/organisation does hold that information?

 Could you also provide details of all of the key responsibilities of each agency which is part of the multi-agency response to the incident.
