Request

“Please can you provide me with a copy of all of the data that relates to 'theatre performance' in the NSS Discovery management information system (https://publichealthscotland.scot/services/discovery/#section-1-1 ) for each of the last three full financial years and the full months of the current financial year.

Ideally, this would be achieved by gaining guest access to the above section of the existing Discovery dashboard and thus reducing any potential cost associated with this request. If this is not possible then my preferred format is MS Excel.

By way of further explanation, the data I am interested in seeing is as following:

- For each health board and each hospital, the total number of theatre appointments cancelled across all specialities in each of the last three full financial years and the full months of the current financial year.

- For each health board and each hospital, the total number of theatre appointments cancelled broken down by each speciality (eg trauma, ENT, urology etc) in each of the last three full financial years and the full months of the current financial year.

- For each health board and each hospital, a breakdown of cancelled theatre appointments for all specialities by cancellation reason in each of the last three full financial years and the full months of the current financial year. The cancellation reason categories, as I understand it, are: Clinical reason, Cancelled by patient, Non-clinical / capacity, Other

- As above, but a breakdown of cancelled theatre appointments by cancellation reasons by each speciality (eg trauma, ENT, urology etc)

- For each health board and each hospital, median theatre times (minutes) in a bar chart -  which breaks it down by anaesthetic time, prep time, operative time, turnover time - in each of the last three full financial years and the full months of the current financial year.

- For each health board and each hospital, percentage utilisation rates for theatres in each of the last three full financial years and the full months of the current financial year.

If the data is held in a slightly different way to as requested above (for example, if it is recorded as percentage of appointments cancelled rather than the raw number) then I would accept that.”
