Today the Minister for Mental Health Clare Haughey marked the start of Children’s Mental Health Week (1-7 February 2021).

Public Health Scotland recognises that although children are less likely to suffer the direct health consequences of COVID-19, the associated infection control measures are likely to have a significant impact on their development, health and wellbeing. This includes current measures that mean the majority of children are learning from home, while schools remain open for our most vulnerable children and those whose parents are key workers. It is with the mental health of the children of Scotland in mind that we, alongside the Scottish Government, COSLA and NHS Education for Scotland, developed an animation to highlight the role everyone has in supporting children’s mental health.
