Following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) on expansion of the older adult RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) vaccination programme, Public Health Scotland (PHS) is working with Scottish Government and NHS Boards to finalise plans for the rollout of the programme in 2026.

People aged between 75 and 79 years of age are already eligible for the RSV vaccine. The JCVI has confirmed the following additional groups will now be eligible:

  • adults aged 80 years and older
  • all residents in a care home for older adults
