This report presents provisional information on laboratory reports of Hepatitis A in Scotland up to the end of 2019. This is compared to previous years’ data to show trends over time. The surveillance of Hepatitis A in Scotland relies on reports from all laboratories in Scotland. These are reported to HPS via Electronic Communication of Surveillance in Scotland (ECOSS).

Main points:

  • during 2019, there were 50 cases of Hepatitis A reported to HPS
  • this was an increase on the 34 cases reported in 2018
