  • COVID-19 and self-isolation among students: Lessons learnt (September to November 2020)

    This publication comprises two reports. The first report presents a summary of three strands of work undertaken by Public Health Scotland (PHS) to support workshops involving Scottish Government with universities and other stakeholders to enable the safe return of students at the start of second term. The second report describes the experience of students who self-isolated due to COVID-19 while living in term-time accomodation. It is based on interviews with students and looks at their experience of self-isolation in terms of the communication they received, their access to practical support and their suggestions for change going forward.

  • COVID-19 Early Years Resilience and Impact Survey (CEYRIS) – findings from Round 2

    Public Health Scotland ran the second round of the COVID-19 Early Years Impact and Resilience survey in November/December 2020 to find out how children in Scotland aged 2 to 7 years continue to be affected by COVID-19. The survey covered the following themes: key behaviours; children’s play and learning; use of outdoor spaces and social interactions; the experience of parents and carers during COVID-19 in Scotland; and the experience of COVID-19 and specific infection control measures.

  • COVID-19 infections among school pupils in Scotland

    The report presents the distribution of cases of COVID-19 across the pupil population in Scotland from 17 August to 18 October 2020, covering the period of Term 1 of the 2020 to 2021 school year. These data show the occurrence of COVID-19 cases in this population across the course of Term 1, and by area, and by school type. This does not reflect directly the measurement of COVID-19 incidents within schools, as not all pupil cases identified will have been present in school during their infectious period.

  • COVID-19 Shielding Programme (Scotland) Impact and Experience Survey

    This publication presents the findings of the Public Health Scotland COVID-19 Shielding Programme (Scotland) Impact and Experience Survey. This online survey, which ran between 1 and 14 June 2020, was open to individuals who had received a letter from Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer advising them to follow shielding guidance. Individuals caring for someone else who had received a letter were also able to participate. The publication covers the following topics: shielding behaviour, negative impacts of shielding, shielding support and unmet needs.

  • Impact of Minimum Unit Pricing among people who are alcohol dependent and accessing treatment services: Interim report: Structured interview data

    This study looks at the Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) for alcohol that came into effect in Scotland in 2018. This interim report presents a description of collected data and early findings from a study about the impact of MUP on people with alcohol dependence who access treatment services. This study is the first of four work packages that make up the wider Harmful Drinking Study, which is one of a set of studies looking at the impact of MUP in Scotland.
