Our standard of care provides a consistent, national framework for assessing the quality of care received by people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis across Scotland. It enables meaningful comparison between services, helping to identify variation in practice and highlight potential outliers. By systematically measuring performance against the agreed standard, the Scottish Multiple Sclerosis Register supports the identification of opportunities to improve clinical practice, reduce unwarranted variation, and strengthen patient care and outcomes.
